Daughters of the
American Revolution and America250MI

America250MI is honored to partner with  Michigan Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in a landmark statewide effort to tell Michigan’s story as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary. With 55 Michigan DAR chapters, we are forming an America250MI Committee in Every County, passing an official Resolution of support, and participating in Sharing the Spirit of America—a multilingual, statewide reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 2026.

America250MI will amplify DAR’s statewide engagement by highlighting chapter contributions and weaving these efforts into the broader Michigan commemorative narrative. Guided by America250MI’s 5 Guiding Themes—the American Experiment, We the People, The Power of Place, Unfinished Revolutions, and Doing History—we will amplify educational programming and celebratory events that illuminate the DAR's enduring contributions to the American story and invite every Michigander to take part in this historic moment.

Deepening Partnerships for the 250th -
Patriots' Markers

From the DAR’s public mission to promote patriotism, preserve history, and educate our communities, both our organizations are deeply committed to honoring Revolutionary War soldiers and their families across Michigan. The DAR Patriots’ Markers Initiative was established to raise appreciation amongst current and future generations of Americans of our Patriots’ sacrifice for their benefit. We hope that these new markers will also become sources of pride for local communities to celebrate the brave Patriots who founded our nation – and a reminder of the importance of emulating their conviction, courage, and cooperation toward national unity.

In partnership with America250MI and our local DAR chapters, the research and efforts of the DAR will be integrated into a Committee in Every County, Patriots Markers, and the Sharing the Spirit of America readings, ensuring that the sacrifices of Michigan patriots are visible in classrooms, museums, and civic life. This enduring commitment to patriotism, history, and education—central to the DAR and America250MI—enriches the statewide commemoration, and helps ensure a living, lasting legacy for future generations.
